Wow. 6 weeks. If I do the math, I have now tube fed this baby about 396 times! It's been a ton of work, and a massive amount of stress....but I wouldn't trade it for the world- any of it. It still blows my mind that it seems as if the tiny puppy has taken over the internet! Buzzfeed?! Huffington Post?! Now NY Daily News?!! For years, I've been doing rescue work, and doing all I can to help special needs animals...and now, this tiny Bean comes into my life, and is getting more press in his 6wks on Earth that I have in my lifetime! Good for him. He deserves it. He deserves all of the love and support that is being brought upon him. That is...as long as people remember the reason we are here. We are dog rescue. We are the people who open our hearts to offer a chance to these "unwanted" babies. One animal at a time...we attempt to make a difference.
I have always looked at Lentil and wondered the reason that he is here. I (personally) believe that every being is here to make some sort of an impact, or a difference in the world....we all have a purpose. I'm not sure that I know yet what Lentil's purpose will be in the future, but one of the most beautiful things that seems to be unfolding is his connection to people that are facing the same issue that he has! I've gotten the most beautiful emails from mothers, who's children were born with cleft palates. The stories of their fights, their heart aches and their celebrations just amaze me. One woman, Alison, wrote that her daughter Rachael and her have been following our story. She told me that she's shared him on Children's Craniofacial Association or CCAkids. Her email stated "Rachael and I
have chatted about how much a puppy or baby with a cleft or other facial
difference is viewed as adorable but when the child gets older and is
dealing with peers - they are often made fun of and viewed as 'not so
cute anymore'." The truth behind that statement went straight through my heart. Maybe THIS is part of Lentil's purpose?! Perhaps he is meant to help to break down this barrier of how horrific people can act towards one another! Only time will tell....but I can assure you....I will be sure that Lentil finds his way :)
This is the beauty of Lentil...and the beauty of rescue and humanity :)
I am so in love with this precious little bean, and so wish I could hug him and Foster Mom and say thanks for proving how a little love can change the world. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank you beyond words for all you are doing for Lentil and all the other special needs animals. I don't know if surgery is possible for Lentil but I'd gladly donate to it if it is possible!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I have 3 rescue dogs and they are the light of our lives! Lentil is so lucky to have you!
ReplyDeleteAmazing. I believe he is here to spread the news that all creatures deserve a chance no matter what their issues. God bless you both.
ReplyDeleteLentil is def here for a reason!!! I have a feeling he is going to help others more and more and firmilerize so maney peple all over the world about clef pelilt sorry I am a terrible speller that god the world stil has some helpful people to take care off all the people and furry babies in need!!! God bless u and little lentil
ReplyDeleteThe story is inspiring. I think many humans tend to root for an underdog, to cheer someone fighting a difficult battle, and to always look for the silver lining. I volunteer with a rescue and do cat adoptions, and it is so encouraging to see the "special needs" kitties find such wonderful homes, sometimes before the "normal" animal. There is a lot of love out there. Maybe little Lentil can indeed make life easier for a child that is somehow different, or teach others how to be kinder to those that are a bit different than the norm. I'm hoping his medical condition can be treated more when he is older and stronger, so that he can have an easier life. Thanks for posting all the photos and updates!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the updates and for your positive attitude! I seriously cry a little every time I read this blog, because I am just so touched by this story and by Lentil's adorableness. Keep up the good work!!!
ReplyDeleteBless your heart for being such a caring and kind foster parent to sweet little Lentil!! He is so lucky to have you, but I think you feel so lucky to have him!! :D
ReplyDeleteYou are doing something great for a puppy that was meant to be thrown away as litter. Now this puppy is in best care and a truly good person has made his life longer and probably the best life a dog can get. I will follow this from day to day. Bless you!!
ReplyDeleteWow, funny how such positivity can come out of something so small. This world we live in can be hard and cruel at times, but its hearts and people like you have shared above that prove there is still so much GOOD in this world!! THANKS for sharing this post and all the success this little bar of fur has had! so many people forget how easy they have it. I am in awe of this journey and your overwhelming HUGE heart! Keep doing what your doing, making a difference in the world helping animals! they are precious gifts that keep us all smiling and give unconditional LOVE always!
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU!!!
Katie
You and others who save these little angels are truly heroes. I can't even put into words how thankful I am that there are angels like u out there to care for these special pups (of all ages) and to give them, along with the medical care they need, the love they crave. If only everyone could see how special dogs are (as well as other animals) this world would be a much better place... As Ghandi said, "A nation, and it's moral progress can be judged by the way it's animals are treated". Ok, I'm just yammering cause I can't find the words to explain how these little guys touch my heart and how much it means that those like you make them feel safe and loved.
ReplyDeleteOur daughter introduced us to lil Lentil Bean via Facebook and I'll be eternally grateful. I so look forward to your (his) posts and videos as they really have made a difference to my life. He is inspiring love, care and affection across the world it seems and my heart goes out to him and to you for all your unselfish care of him. I agree that he might, hopefully, teach us how to look on people with similar problems, it's true. I am a dog-loving person and could so easily love and cuddle the Bean but I'm sure I couldn't show him so much time dedication as you so obviously do. What wonderful things you are doing for him and your other rescue dogs. Bless you for that, and for keeping us all in his life. <3
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and look forward to future posts. I think what you are doing is amazing. Thanks for giving us all hope for humanity.
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteThis story is so amazing and Lentil is such a beautiful puppy, I'm sure he'll do amazing things when he gets older and stay just as cute as he is now. Thank you for taking care of him and giving him a chance to live.

Give the cute button a kiss from me :-)
I totally love this sweet little french bulldog/lentil bean!!! :) Kisses and Squeezes from Mississippi!!!
ReplyDeleteIt fills my heart with warmth to know that there are kind, caring people in this world who would do something as selfless as taking in an itty, bitty rescue puppy and nurse him back to health. You're an amazing person with such dedication! What a sweet little munchkin he is! Best of luck with the surgeries, and give him lots of cuddles when he's all better :)
ReplyDeleteYou made me think that the world may be better because of people like you. You're a hero and Lentil is lucky to have crossed your path.
ReplyDeleteYou kept going like this, you´re on the best way to win a paradise only for the pure of heart. ♥
I love this doggie & good luck doggie
ReplyDeleteI have a Frenchie and to me she is thee cutest lil puppy I have ever laid eyes on :) she also has a cleft palate. However it doesn't affect her ability to eat, drink, or play. The vet tried once to fix it but that lil stinker broke it open.in no time at all. So at that point I decided to let it be. I have to clean it out all the time for she gets all kinds of stuff stuck on her gums. Baya is 8mos old now and she continues to try and please me everyday, not a day goes by that my lil snuggle butt doesn't make me smile
