Here we go Team Lentil!

I'm still in a whirlwind. Still trying to get organized and make this unplanned phenomenon something big. Not "big" monetarily- but "big" emotionally. I want to do it "right" for the kids. Something is there, and I'm determined to find it!
I said to my Mom the other night that I now feel as though I'm a "stay at home mom who scrambles in circles constantly". I love it- don't get me wrong- but I have guilt, in not being able to physically work daily in my shop and rescue, as I always had and also personally-in that as much as my life (I feel has come full circle) is falling apart. My mind races constantly with ideas (that's normal for me)- but finally....I feel as though these racing thoughts can become reality because we have a Team!
The idea behind these (somewhat vague) posts I'm making on Facebook to compile a database for our kids is this...

I feel as though all of us who follow Lentil want to help..but maybe we don't know how?!  We are trying to compile information on children that follow us daily- who are inspired by us- and then move forward to incorporate ALL of our Team to participate in sending whatever they choose to- for birthdays or upcoming surgeries- to inspire these kids and show them that the world cares!  We will make care packages and forward them on to the children!  Everyone will have the opportunity to play any part they choose to!
On a second note- for these children- I'm working on "Lentil's Lucky Charms". Each child that signs up will receive a bag and a team lentil "starter" charm...along with a form for parents to fill out on passed procedures that each child has gone thru (so we can get each child up to date).  We will make different charms to correspond with different procedures (ie- MRI, shunt, lip repair). The kids can "collect" these and be able to one day, look back and see all that they've accomplished.  This is all in the
works...and one way or another- it'll happen!  We are Team Lentil!
I'm excited for the future..who knows what it will bring....when he was my tiny little Bean, sitting in the palm of my hand- I made a pact with Lentil...."I will always stand strong by his side, and do everything in my power to keep him safe...but I will never put him in a situation that would expose him in an uncomfortable or stressful manner."   I want to meet everyone, and somehow I will....I (and really, WE) need to just always keep our Lentil's best interest in mind first!  We, alone are one, and that's ok in a pup's mind...but to enter a room of hundreds of "ones" that want to squeeze you, takes a toll!  I have faith in all that we do together...and we will find a way- while keeping our boy's best interst in mind!
Here we go (again)!  We are making this a reality!!! Together- somehow- each day is The Best Day Ever!!!

  4. Glad to see you are still going strong Lindsay. I imagine it does take a toll, being in the spotlight all the time. Stay sane, that is the most important thing :-)

  6. I agree Lindsay, what you are doing is wonderful and would love to help. I have a suggestion, and before you panic I am offering to coordinate the efforts. I've seen reports on tv and read articles about how people sew super hero capes for sick children. What if we make Lentil capes for kids heading to surgery--or what if a cape is included in their care packages? I bet Team Lentil includes sewers and quilters who would love to make Lentil Superhero capes for the kids. I have some ideas if you're interested and could send samples. Please contact me at gibbonslr@gmail.com if interested.

  7. I am still impressed by Lindsay's devotion and determination to tiny Lentil Bean - feeding a wiggly puppy by tube every couple hours around the clock, wow. Lentil was such a teeny tiny Bean and now he is HUGE! Every pet should have a guardian that loves them and puts their needs first ... Lentil has that, and has blossomed into a healthy Bean. All the FB stuff is a bonus, a wonderful bonus. I think it is great to structure ways Lentil's fans can help the CCA Kids. And the charms, well they sound really cool. I can just picture Lentil with his appropriate charms somewhere on his harness! Keep on lovin' life, Bean ... and we'll keep on loving you. :)

  8. ''If you can, help others; if you cannot do that, at least do not harm them.'' You have given so much but that little dog has given more. Through you many kids and adults have been able to identify themselves with Lentil. They see a pup that when all hope was lost has a great world. He is loved and loves in return. Sometimes and most times people follow an example and you've given people the chance to reach a common understanding. Lentil and that butted lip have helped to many to count and your ''captions'' on his thoughts have carried us along....THANKS !!!

  10. Wow ! You are under so much pressure *hug* . Bet you never thought when you rescued Bean that you're life would change so dramatically. I LOVE that he is not just a celebrity dog but a dog with a purpose :) . I would like to offer my help my help as well . I currently make blankets and quilts for a local kids charity and would love to do the same for this group . The children's group that I work with puts together a care duffel bag for kids in foster care . So a duffel bag with the logo on it which contains a blanket , stuffed animal , book and toiletries. The group is called MY Stuff Bags. When you go to the site they have instructions for the blankets , ways to donate , etc. We could do the same and like the post above said , include a Lentil cape. Or make quilts with the lentil cape in the design ...... I would love to help in coordinating , making capes , quilts , whatever :) Karen - queenpunkbunny@yahoo.com

  12. I am so impressed with your idea with the charms. That would be fantastic. I can see how you are overwhelmed with everything, right now. I do agree, even though we all say we want to meet Lentil in person and give him a kiss. Deep down we know that probably is not going to happen. I do feel so connected with him and want the best for him as you mentioned. I have wanted another project for Team Bean ever since Weston's service dog. Hope you have a donation app when this flies. That would probably be a way to keep it funded. Appreciating all you do, Lindsay.
